Product Description
Ferric Chloride (FeCl3), also known as Iron chloride, is an industrial scale commodity chemical compound. When dissolved in water, the compound undergoes hydrolysis resulting in a brown highly corrosive, acidic solution that is used as a flocculent in sewage treatment and drinking water production
It is an inorganic salt and appears as a colorless to light brown aqueous solution that has a faint hydrochloric acid odor. Highly corrosive to most metals, the primary use of ferric chloride is to remove impurities in water and for wastewater treatment. Ferric chloride can provide cost-effective treatment in waste water treatment plants to reduce foul odour emissions. Moderately toxic by ingestion but a strong irritant to the skin and eyes.
Ferric Chloride is also used in effluent treatment in textile, paper, refineries and other chemical industries, in the manufacture of several iron compounds, in inks and pigments and in etching printed circuit boards.
