Product Description
Calcium hypochlorite is an inorganic compound with formula Ca(OCl)2. It is the main active ingredient of commercial products called bleaching powder, chlorine powder, or chlorinated lime, used for water treatment and as a bleaching agent. It strongly smells of chlorine, owing to its slow decomposition in moist air. It is available in both granular and tablet forms with 65- 70% purity.
The most important application of calcium hypochlorite is in the sanitization of public swimming pools. Granular calcium hypochlorite is also used to disinfect drinking water.
Breathing Calcium Hypochlorite can irritate the lungs causing coughing and/or shortness of breath. Contact can severely irritate and burn the eyes and skin
